Any suggestions for good hair salons in Austin? I am looking to pay $150 for cut and color with highlights.?
Hey, I am actually a stylist here in Austin. That's about the price range for my full highlights with a hair cut. It may run you a bit cheaper depending on what you are wanting! I am located in Gallery of Salons in North Austin. I work with Paul Mitchell color and products, and have been a stylist going on 4 years now. Where to go...Salon or Super Cuts?
I'm still in high school, and I've had my hair cut at a salon before. I wear my hair long, about four inches below my shoulders, with the shortest layer starting at my neck.
My hair is now at my waist and I want a hair cut, but I don't want to pay $40 for layers and a three inch trim.
Should I just go to a salon, or is Super Cuts capable of such layering?Where to go...Salon or Super Cuts?
Super Cuts should be good for a trin and to redo your layers, thats what i always do i only go to a salon when im getting color or a really drastic cut and style.Where to go...Salon or Super Cuts?
I would recommend a local beauty school before Supercuts.
The students are totally supervised the entire time they are doing your hair. Unlike some nightmare haircut you could end up at Supercuts!
Beauty schools will save you big bucks!

What does regis salon charge for haircolor and cuts?
i sometimes go there and it cost me around $250 just go there and get a quote for your hair you dont have to book anything, just tell them you want a quote because you want it done before christmas.

no!! super cuts effing sucks! one time i just went to get a haircut and this fag was cutting my hair,and he asked if it was okay to do my hair like his!!! it was red and wavy,with this crazy thing at the front,and then operah came on the radio and he started singing!!! i couldnt stop laughing and when he asked what i was laughing at i was saying that there were kids out the window that were throwing ice cream on eachother. lol IT EFFING SUCKS! so yeah dont go there.

I am african american and i am trying to grow out of a relaxer (back to my natural hair) so it has to be a salon that uses no chemicals, but i also want a salon that can cut my hair properly (with razors, as well as scissors). Any referrals?

Which part of the Philippines are you? The thing is, it's not the name of the salon you need to go to, instead, you need to look for a hairdresser that will know your hair. I've been to every salon myself and would you believe a no name salon with a gay hairdresser cuts my hair beautifully? Keep on experimenting on different hairdresser til you find the one that can cut your hair nicely.
for dry hair u can do that your self, just by a shampoo and conditioner for dry and damaged hair, u can also use a leave in conditioner. no idea about hair dressers over there im in australia just try looking around or asking people if they know of a really good n cheap hair dresser.

JCP Salon hair cutting and coloring prices?
One of my best friends is a sales associate at JCP asked, on my behalf, one of the hair dressers how much a cut and highlights would be for my short, thin hair. She said it would be $45 for both. This hair dresser is one of the three that actually does color and highlights with hair.
I got my hair done at the same salon but with a different hair dresser (due to schedule difference) there and got charged $85. The hair dresser never went over the price with me so I assumed it was $45 for both. She did ask me if I wanted a full highlight or partial and I said full, but I can't imagine the price variance being almost DOUBLE the amount of what the other hair dresser said.
So for clarification how much should I have been charged for a full foil highlight and cut?

Most salons do that...so just check before you cut your hair for no reason. I would suggest a more upscale salon because you are making a dramatic change and you are going to want it to look good, and usually a cut is free when you do locks of love so you would benefit more. You are a very good and caring person to do that. I hope you love your new cut! I might also suggest not just cutting off the ten inches....get some layers or side bangs or both! My hair is shoulder length with layers and long bangs and it looks pretty good! (Not to be vain, in fact it only looks good when I blow-dry it.)What salons in MA cut hair for Locks of Love? Oh!! Nope never heard of it, but I know what you are referring to! I don't really think that style will look right with long hair. If you really like that style than do it short, if not than leave your hair long and add some front layers with assymetrical bangs (side bangs). You can also do your hair to one side and have that side cut into layers, while the other side stays long.

It's called side swept bangs. Pull your hair back and separate your bangs in the front, so you only cut the bangs. Using two fingers place about and inch or two of your bangs between them and run them down to the end to cut the bangs. Create a slight angle when you cut. But cut just a little bit at a time to allow for easy mistake recovery. You can also cut straight upward to create the more jagged and swept look. Then just sweep them to the side and spray/gel/whatever your preference. It'll take a couple weeks for your hair to get used to being side swept. It'll keep trying to go back to it's natural position, so you'll have to use hair products every day at first.How can I cut bangs like this? The haircuts at the beauty collage I frequent are only $4 ...and $2 on Wednesdays! I tip well.

Sounds like you're just going to the wrong salons. It's a pretty huge generalization to assume that the few salons you've been to encapsulate the whole of American salons.

Well im in a simular situation but i cant find asian hair styles! I been looking for a while and all it does is lead you from one website to another to another to another till your not even on asian hairstyles your not even on hairstyles! And when i do find hairstyles that are asian there the curlyish kind, im really getting annoyed. I think my hair is the right type and im sure my solan can do it but pics of the hair style is what im missing. Im sure a solon can do your hair unless its thin also be sure if you do bring in a pic to a solon to get all sides and not just the front.

Yes there are many top, professional hair salons in America but their styles are not as varied and up to date as those in Japan. Perhaps you can look out for Japanese salons based there or find a hairstylist who has been trained in Japan.
Find people whose hairstyles you admire and ask them where they go for services. Chances are, even a stranger could help you out, and relax, its just hair, it grows back.

All salons offer razor cut hair?
One salon I would frequent just informed me at my appointment they don't razor cut hair, much to my dismay. And my small surprise, a little, because the cutting technique is rather popular.
Question: Don't the majority of all salons offer razor cuts? Wouldn't they have the tools they needed to do it?

Is this a good idea? Im looking for a new, fresh, suitable style and this sounds like the place. They cut and dye your hair based on your bone structure. The reviews are great but im worried the people will do it and i wont like the cut or it will be too flashy for me. I will ask before of course, but if you had the opportunity to go to a salon that does this, would you?

Cut some pictures out from a magazine to bring in with you because what you have an idea of in your head is sometimes hard to communicate verbally to some one who doesnt know you or your style. With the pictures it will give them an idea of what you like and then they can decide with your features if you should have your hair pulled away from your face or some side bangs. Hair salons in Hong Kong. How much for a dye and a cut?
I will be travelling to Hong Kong in the next month and want to go from brown to blonde.. and also get a hair cut. What price am I looking at roughly for this? I currently live in China where I know it would be alot cheaper than HK but don't trust them to dye my hair blonde as I haven't seen one chinese person with a succesful blonde color lol. I have medium/long thick hair.

in a medium-high salon... it wil like aro HKD$1000. if to those famous stars salon.....price can be double up. of cos we do hv cheaper rates like HKD$400 or so. but definately that's those u dun want to go. i knew 1 in causeway bay (shopping area) named =showroom (salon). they hv a senior stylist which dye good colour especially 4 ladies. u may try him out. u definately need to book an appointment b4 u can go as he always full. their phone # = 28822711 n the stylist named = Andy Chu.

Take pictures of what you want your hair to look like ... from all sides, if possible ... but also listen to the hairdresser, who can analyze your hair and cut it right for you. You may need to look for an alternative salon, but most cities have several in different parts of the city ... so you should be able to find one that will please you when they cut your hair.
I got mine cut at a salon, but it was a ';rocker-ish';, for lack of a better way to say it, salon.
But if you bring in a picture, I'm sure they can do it.

When you call, or talk to them about your hair you should ask if they do scene style, because a lot of teens are getting this style more and more salons do this style. Also when you go in make sure you have a photo of the scene hairstyle you're wanting just in case the salon doesn't do the style, they should be able to figure out how to do it just by looking at the photo.Do salons cut scene hair?
If you want a good scene haircut, go to an alternative salon ... preferably one where you can see customoers who have scene hair coming out. I am older (58) but went to an alternative salon in Seattle for several years ... my hairdresser cut my hair and permed it the way I wanted (not in an 'old lady' style, but more modern) and he could also do any kind of scene haircut. Take pictures of what you want your hair to look like ... from all sides, if possible ... but also listen to the hairdresser, who can analyze your hair and cut it right for you. You may need to look for an alternative salon, but most cities have several in different parts of the city ... so you should be able to find one that will please you when they cut your hair.
I got mine cut at a salon, but it was a ';rocker-ish';, for lack of a better way to say it, salon.
But if you bring in a picture, I'm sure they can do it.
Unless you're planning on doing some crazy dying job, you're pretty safe.
If they're still unsure, ask them for choppy, razored layers.
If they mess it up, it'll still look scene.
From personal experience,..practically every salon does scene hair. Just make sure you BRING IN A PICTURE, because if you try to explain it to the person who is cutting your hair, they won't do it right. No matter how good you explain it. Try to show them a few different pictures of the same hair style but from different angles.

twist them to the side you want them cut to and cut in a downward motion. im in cosmetology school during the summer and we just went over that.
i always do my own, and razoring is pretty foolproof.
just make sure if your using a shaving razor, it has to be only one blade. more than one will lead to split ends and broken hair.

You should call to confirm, but the 25/30/35 for short/med/long seems to apply if you get only a shampoo and finish. If you're having your long hair cut off, they may even brush it out, braid it dry, and snip the braid above your shoulders before shampooing it. Either way, you shouldn't have to pay for a long-hair shampoo.
The higher-priced stylist may be worth it since you're going in for a major change and aren't sure what you want. Well, Im not quite sure. Most places I go to do not include a shampoo in the price of the cut. You should call them and ask to make sure.
Also, if you are getting a cut only... you could go with any of the 4. But if you do more complicated looks... its best to pay for the best to get something you are satisfied with.

yesterday i was so angry because my mum wouldnt let me do what i want so to pay her back i decided to cut my own hair :S I cut my self a full fringe which looks awful and was uneven and everything. So my mum took me to the salon to get it cut but it still looks AWFUL! it doesnt suit me at all, and it looks absolutely horrible. I'm probably just going to clip it back everyday because i cant possibly wear it out as its HORIBLE! What should i do, i know i need to grow it out but how long will that take? Im so embarrassed my hair looks so bad! what should i do? should i just clip it back everyday untill it grows out or does anyone have any advice please help me im 13 and my hair is like my life and i know i am SOOOOO stupid for cutting it myself and i have no idea what i was thinking so please help me!!!

You could get it cut really short, and just sort of ruffle it.. At least then it would look like you were making a statement, rather than just having screwed up.

Get those cute looking hats. Im not sure what they call it, beret or something. Or they have pretty cute accesories these days for hair, try it out. Start your own fashion trend. Don't be afraid to experiment with different looks.
Be brave! If your salon has salvaged it then you should only have to wait a monthish til it's grown out well. But have confident and if you can convince people that you love it then it'll suit you. Okay, I worded that horribly, but don't stress about it.

hair grows (on average) 1cm per month. to help hair grow faster, rub your scalp everyday. this helps blood get to your roots, thus making hair grow faster.

First, a fringe does not really suit your daughter. She should aim to steadily grow it out.
Second, there is a lot of volume there, and it is rather wild. Try a thicker conditioner such as John Freida Brilliant Brunette to tame it and make it shiny.
She has a slim face and a pointed jaw. She would look good in a style that emphasised that by having the front cut to be alongside the level of her eyes, and then being feathered deeply back from there. Her hair could be thinned with deep layers, however it would need a conditioning hot oil treatment before this as otherwise the layers would just look messy.
Also, she has quite a pale, cool skin tone, therefore if she was looking to change the colour a cool mid-brown would work better with her skin tone. A good colour could be Nice and Easy 118 or 114.My daughter cut her own hair to short, how could a salon fix it? *picture included*?

Usually when the bangs are cut too short there are tow options, One live with it for the next month or two, even though it might not look good. The other option is to have her hair cut short into like a pixie, or boy cut. If she is miserable with the hair, the later is the recommended option.

To cut your bangs without going to a hair salon you have to get a pair of scissors that are used to cut hair (you can find some at Claire's, CVS, and a lot of other places). then you just figure out how short you want to cut them and make sure you cut them evenly. HELPFUL TIP: Cut them longer than you want them to be, because if you cut them unevenly, you'll end up having to cut more off, and if you cut them the way you want them and they come out uneven you will end up cutting them shorter and they won't look good. Those are not good side bangs for one. Get a side fringe. I cannot find any really good photos of one that isn't covering the entire forehead. I have one and it looks really good. But my hair is short and pixie like. When I got my hair cut I brought my entire laptop so I could show her pictures from every angle I could find of the type of hair I wanted.

you could pull the hair you want for your bangs in front of your face and cut in a vertical motion going in a slight diagonal towards your part.
but i would recommend not to cut it any shorter then the tip of your nose when its in front of your face.
also when cutting hair make sure its semi dry not completely soaked other wise when it drys it will be shorter then the length you cut it

No. Only the front. The back is off limits to me. I go to someone. I would rather get someone else to do it right than do a less than perfect version and get mad at myself . Hi everyone, I am here searching for a great hair salon in Oakland County, MI (Birmingham/Troy/Waterford/Novi/Commerce鈥?W. Bloomfield). I have very curly hair, med/dark brown w/dark red tint. Okay, Im an african american female and have been wanting layers for a while but im a little cautious about who's in my hair. I usually go to Black owned salons but they havent really been giving me the works on what i want. JCPenny has a beauty salon but im kinda wondering, can someone white work with such coarse (African American) hair as mine? If so, that would be wonderful and save me time and money. I have been a hairdresser for 16 years and for 5 years worked at JCPenney's and I have to tell you that they are very well trained when it comes to different styles and techiques. I think you would be safe going there, just be sure to ask for a ';master stylest'; and you should be in good shape. As for the part about white people able to work on African American hair, yes they can. Your type of hair is very course but can be very fragile to work with. If you want layers, make sure they cut your hair dry so you get a better effect. I hope this helps....................

When people say that they've been 'trained' on black, they usually mean a mannequin or a model whose hair is somewhat straight. Ask your potential stylist - have you worked with black hair and, if you have, what kind of texture? From experience, I would do a lot of asking.

Well White People should help you and do you're hair and there shouldn't be any thing that says African american people can't get there hair cut. So i think you're fine for going to JCPenny
I went to beauty school and I am white. We were trained to work on african american hair as well as white people's hair. Most cosmetologist have training or they wouldn't be able to get their liscense. It might not be their expertice, so I would call and ask the salon if they have someone that can do your hair and explain to them you fears. I have been to JcPenny they do a pretty good job. But remember it's not the name that makes a good salon its the stylist. If you call and they don't have anyone to do it try McRae's or Regis salon or even Trade secrets.
Girl hair is hair to a certain extent almost tried them out myself but from experience ask them what they can or cant do. And you know what you want from them just ask them flat out ..how do you finish my hair (there IS a cost to drying and styling ..yea I know a lil strange). Get the full cost and if it sounds like they can you go for it. The products is not the issue it's the stlying at the end!

I would not go to JCPenny if I were you, it is better to spend more and go less often. I went to JCP one time and they literally cut my hair shorter 4 inches on one side. You couldn't tell when it was dry because my hair is so curly but when it was wet and combed out it was 4 inches shorter, I measured it! I couldn't get my hair to do right the whole time I went to this salon!
I know white women can fix black hair because my sister had a friend she went to school that would only go to white women. She said they pulled a lot less and took more time with her. Just try a more expensive salon with a classier clientele, you will be glad and it will save you money in the end because you can go less!
well i seen a couple of shows on TV where white people did black people hair including layers and they did a good job,,,,,i believe when they go to beauty school they are trained to do both kinds of hair so im pretty sure they can hook you up w/some layers......ask around maybe if you see someone w/layers in their hair ask them who cut your hair and get the stylist name and number....i thinks its better to see what the stylist can do before letting them get into your hair....i just got my hair cut in layers and i didn't have a stylist to begin with i asked a around got good feedback and i got a cute layered cut....so ask around you'll be surprise

I have been a hairdresser for 16 years and for 5 years worked at JCPenney's and I have to tell you that they are very well trained when it comes to different styles and techiques. I think you would be safe going there, just be sure to ask for a ';master stylest'; and you should be in good shape. As for the part about white people able to work on African American hair, yes they can. Your type of hair is very course but can be very fragile to work with. If you want layers, make sure they cut your hair dry so you get a better effect. I hope this helps....................

it's a service provided to the salon. the salon has to pay to have it there for 2 or 3 days. you have to make an appointment with/for the service (not the salon) and normally pay for it first. that way the salon isn't loosing money.
i think it's sold as a thing you can down load (upload - whatever. i don't understand computer jargon.) onto your computer, now.
check out office depot or staples or someplace like that.

Which hair salon cuts scene hair
I cut my hair about 3 months ago but I need another haircut cause it grew back. I want choppy layers like this.

i live up in jersey, but its gonna be hard to find a salon who cuts scene. jus get a bunch of pics n cross ur fingers lol. jus ask for choppy layers starting around the top of ur ear n work ur way down. or get a ameture to cut it for you, thatll give you the authentic look :)

My nails have cuts around them and a little swollen is it my fault or the salon?
ive been getting my nails done for several months now and had no problem but i just moved and went to a different salon and a couple of my nails started bleeding and there are cuts next to a few of them...she said it was hangnails so is it the salonist should i go to a different salon or was i just not taking good enough care of my nails?My nails have cuts around them and a little swollen is it my fault or the salon?
Did you have hang nails? It sounds like the tech was a little rough if youve not had this problem before. If you can, stick to the salon you know and trust but if that is too far away then you are going to have to shop around, ask around, look at peoples hands and fingers, hijack them (nicely lol)as they come out of salons asking for their opinions and a peek at the finished job.
Choose your salon carefully, you want one you can trust AND run from any salon that goes to use an electric file (a drill like device) on your own natural nail. (theyre not properly trained if they do that)My nails have cuts around them and a little swollen is it my fault or the salon?

It's true that moisituriser will help to prevent them, and if it has vitamin E will help healing, but lack of moisturiser is not the root cause.
Many nail technicians are also poorly trained and push the cuticles back too far. Cuticles are to some extent a sacrificial item and take the damage which would otherwise occur to the skin above the nail bed. They also serve an important purpose in sealing the root of the nail against bacteria, fungi and other pathogens. Removing them completely is asking for trouble. Nail salons often fail to disinfect their tools between customers which compounds the problem.
You need to look at your diet, it's the single most important cause of this common ailment for most people: foods rich in calcium, iron, vitamin B and potassium are essential and seafood, dairy products, green leafy vegetables, and soy are rich in these nutrients.
Also make sure that you're not drying the oils out of your skin artificially; if you hand-wash your dishes, or use alcohol rub on your hands then you must replace the oils with moisturiser. You may also find that a change to the soap you use to wash your hands with will also help. Occupational causes are a factor: deep-sea fishermen recognised this long before anyone commonly used hand creams and used their own concoctions. Depending on your occupation you may need to consider some kind of barrier protection which may be as simple as wearing gloves.
Nails don't bleed. The skin around them bleeds. So there is no way your ';nails started bleeding';.

That is how nail fungus is aquired. A small cut/scratch under the nail and using the same emery board, or not sterilizing the nail scissors/clippers.

No it's NOT normal %26amp; NOT your fault! It's the Salons. Never go there again! Same thing ahppened to my daughter %26amp; I went in %26amp; cussed them out...needless to say, my daughter got her money back %26amp; never went back again.
It depends- did you feel the person who was doing your nails cut them, or did she rip of a hangnail or something? If either of those things happened, then it's probably her fault.
